Charlamagne Tha God has sparked controversy once again, this time with his recent interview with South African singer Tyla on The Breakfast Club. The interview drew backlash after Charlamagne pressed Tyla on her identity as a coloured person, despite her publicist's attempts to shut down the question. Tyla later clarified that she wasn't denying her Blackness, but the damage was done.
Peter Rosenberg criticized Charlamagne for making the interview "miserable" for Tyla and her team by deliberately asking sensitive questions they had requested be avoided. Charlamagne has now confirmed this, admitting that Tyla's team had asked him to steer clear of certain topics, including her racial identity, but he refused, stating, "I am not a d*ck sucker for record labels. I have a job to do, and my job is for the people."
Charlamagne's unapologetic stance has sparked debate, with some defending his commitment to asking tough questions and others accusing him of being disrespectful and insensitive.
