In a conversation on 3Music TV's 3hread special with Essilfua, Ghanaian musician Jadu opened up about his journey, influences, and aspirations in the music industry, shedding light on his unique path to artistic expression and success.
Jadu, whose name derives from a childhood nickname meaning "JAH DO" or "God did it," explained how he adopted it when he decided to pursue a music career professionally.
Speaking from Miami, where he recently completed studies in Information Studies, Jadu reflected on his educational journey and its impact on his music career. "Not everyone was receptive, but I found my community who embraced me for who I am."
Rooted in a family background where music runs deep—his mother's side with drums and his father's side with singing—Jadu found early inspiration from his brother, who collaborated with Ghanaian music legends like Samini and Mugeez. According to Jadu, seeing those pictures from their sessions motivated him to enter the music scene.
Initially starting music as a hobby in high school and continuing through university, it was in the United States where Jadu decided to pursue music professionally due to positive feedback from listeners.
HipHop serves as Jadu's primary musical inspiration, allowing him to explore genres like Afro Drill. His recent release, KROM AYE SHI, reflects the pressures of economic hardships faced by Ghanaians which also affects Ghanaians in the diaspora. Produced by Ujeanallday, the song features Strongman and JFK, chosen for thier ability to convey the song's message effectively.
Collaboration plays a crucial role in Jadu's artistic vision, as he gears up to release his EP titled JADU AM this year. Jadu mentioned that he is open to collaborations both locally and internationally, urging artiste managers to be more responsive to collaboration inquiries.
As Jadu continues to navigate the music industry with determination and authenticity, his journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring artistes and fans alike, showcasing the power of passion and perseverance in achieving artistic goals.
